Description This is a single 45 RPM single-sided metal master/stamper for the song "El Retrato" by Pedro Benard y sus Atrevidos as released/pressed on the Tabb Records label # TRB-6 from 1986. This metal master/stamper comes in the original form-fitting manilla envelope, which features the following info written on the front in magic marker and pen: "PB-1025-A - Tabb Rex - N/C Replace - Award", with an inkstamp on the bottom left rear corner stating "Feb 25 1986". It appears that the penned notation of "replace" on the manilla envelope, so I assume that this metal master/stamper was made to replace the original metal master/stamper. The matrix/catalog info etched into the deadwax is: "PB-1065-A - L-66754". As you'll see in the photos attached below, there's a copy of the record label included, which is attached to the front of the manilla envelope. One thing of note, is that this metal master/stamper appears to have been a PRIVATE PRESSING for a West Coast artist/band, which most likely was used to press a very low quantity (100 - 500), although I can't say with any certainty. PLEASE NOTE: I have 9 individual and pairs of metal master/stampers up in separate auctions this week, so make sure you take a look at all of them. These metal master/stampers all came from the same collection, and appear to feature artists/bands from California or at least the West Coast. I don't know much about this metal master/stamper, but by what I could find on the web, this could either be a metal master or a metal stamper, but either way, this item appears to be a "negative", as it plays backwards. So just to be clear, if you put this metal master/stamper on your turntable, it will play in reverse, and not that well at that, as it would have been clamped down during the manufacturing process and wasn't made to be played "loosely" on a turntable. This metal master/stamper is a bit oversized at approximately 7.5", as I'm assuming that the added diameter, which is rounded downward at the edge, may have been clamped down during the manufacturing process. I mention this, as I notice, and you'll see in the photos below, this added diameter at the outermost edge is not smooth, but is somewhat rippled, although it's far away from the grooves. I don't know how to actually grade a metal master/stamper, but when I look at it under direct light, it appears to be in very good plus - excellent condition, as I don't see any noticeable scratches or scuffs. This metal master/stamper was meant to be clamped down during manufacturing, so this loose/unclamped piece of metal may appear warped and may have light bends. This metal master/stamper was never really meant to be held onto for any real length of time, but somehow this was and here's your chance to have what may be considered a ONE-OF-A-KIND piece of musical memorabilia!
